Andre Russell Shines as West Indies Sweeps Sri Lanka 2-0

West Indies’ Andre Russell rained sixes as he showcased his destructive best against Sri Lanka. Sri Lank failed to contain the wrath of the Windies as they limped their way to a dismal 155 for 6 in Pallekele.

West Indies produced a strong collective bowling effort. At the same time, Sri Lanka could not contain the Windies batting mighty.

The visitors went on and flew at over 10 an over in the Powerplay and it gave them the needed edge. The scores kept on ticking, and it was a magnificent day for Andre Russell. The latter went on and slayed the game with a hail of sixes.

The Windies were in need of 17 overs to finish the chase with a 2-0 whitewash of the T20I series.

No one amongst Sri Lanka first six partnership was close to secure more than 33. That would be very drivable if they were able to start and score quickly. Unfortunately, they didn’t.

Pitting against West Indies comes with a different attack. And for Sri Lanka, most batters in the top order failed to find the consistency and timing, with none in the top five reaching 25 runs.

West Indies went on a hit with a 61 in the Powerplay, and they put themselves well ahead of the rate. Amongst those runs, Brandon King bagged 43 runs. And he also managed to hit every single one of the boundaries.

Nevertheless, Malinga didn’t do justice for Sri Lanka. He bowled the final over of the Powerplay and that was the moment King put Windies well ahead of the required rate.

Andre Russell came in at the right time for West Indies. He came in and increase the tempo for West Indies. The Windies only needed 53 runs from 44 balls, and the former made sure that the sense of victory was definitely grasped.

He went on and smashed six sixes in his 14 balls and that is a remarkable strike rate of 286.71. Andre Russell performance made West Indies walkout as victors in what was an emphatic show and a match to remember for Windies.
