Pop and Country music vocalist Kenny Rogers has died. The singer died of natural causes at the age of 81. Rogers died in his home surrounded by his family and under the care of hospice.

However, due to coronavirus, there is going to be a small service only for family members. Since he was a public’s person his public memorial is planned for a date to be announced. 

Kenny Rogers was survived by 5 children and his 5th wife Wanda.

Rogers was a cross over artist known for Country, Pop, rock and also soft music.  He began his recording career in the 1950s.

He was involved with other singers and he also had a career as a solo artist.  Singing was not his only talent. The singer was also an actor, a songwriter, a record producer, and an entrepreneur. 

Rogers was born and raised in Houston and was the 4th child in the family of 8 children. 

He started guitar lessons when he was very young. He even performed with other musicians when he was young. When he was in high school he formed a group called the Scholars.

Rogers chartered 120 hit singles in different genres.  He sold over 100 million records globally during his career.

This makes him one of the best selling artists in history.  Rogers also topped the country and pop charts for more than 200 individual weeks in the US.

Although he managed to release some songs working with different groups his career blossomed as a solo artist.

He is known for different songs that were hit songs. Lucille which came out in 1977 became a major hit such that it topped the charts in over 10 countries.

And it also sold 5 million copies.  More success came as his album the gambler was a multi-platinum selling one.

His final concert was graced by many singers. It was held at the Bridgestone Arena. Some of the guest artists include Linda Davis, Little big town, Elle King, Lionel Richie among others.

The appearance was Dolly Parton who happens to be his long time friend. They performed together for the last time.

Rogers received a lot of awards and more recognition for his amazing work during his career of many decades.

These include 3 Grammy awards for best duo, best male country vocal performance for the gambler and the same award for Lucille.

He also won 6 CMAA Awards and other different awards in different years.

There is a special, biography named Kenney Rogers. It had been announced to Air on13 April.

Also the gambler his signature song was added to the library of congress in 2018.  He was also elected to the country music hall of fame in 2013.

Many celebrities have taken to their social media platforms to express how they felt and to share their grief over the loss of this legend.

These include Dolly Parton, Billy Ray Cyrus, Lionel Richie, Jason Aldean, Black Shelton, Reba, Zac Brown Band and many more. 

Lionel Richie shared how heartbroken he was by the loss of Rogers.

He took to twitter saying’ ‘today I lost one of my closest friends. So much laughter, so many adventures to remember.

 my heart is broken….” he said. Dolly Parton also uploaded a video on Instagram and expressed how she felt over this loss.

The world is mourning the death of Country music Kenny Rogers. Unfortunately, there cannot be a public funeral at this point due to coronavirus.

There is just going to be a small service fro close family members.

A public memorial service will be done at a later date. Many celebrities including lionel Richie and Dolly Parton have expressed their grief on their social media platforms.

Rogers left his 5th wife Wanda and his 5 children.
