Containment Area in New Rochelle
Yesterday, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announces plans to put a containment area in a bid to stop the spread of coronavirus. They plan to send off National Guard troops to New Rochelle a suburb in New York. This is an attempt to stop the growing mass of the cases of coronavirus.
This decision came after a realization that New Rochelle which is one of New York City’s Suburbs has the largest cluster of coronavirus cases in the whole of the United States.
Why A Containment in New Rochelle?
New Rochelle has had over 100 cases of these viruses according to Cuomo. This makes the suburb with many cases as the city has 173 cases in total.
- Since it holds the largest number of coronavirus Cuomo said it is better to create a solution or strategy to help in reducing the cases. This containment is said to last two weeks and all schools and facilities in New Rochelle are will be closed. However, all the small stores and businesses will remain open.
- A synagogue in New Rochelle is believed to be the epicenter of this outbreak. Therefore the containment zone surrounds this area.
