Return To Player (RTP)

Return to player (RTP) stands for return to player. It simply means the amount of money that an online casino game or slot pays back to gamblers.  This is shown in percentages and also it is calculated from gameplay over a period of time.

To give an example we can say that a game has an RTP of 95, this means that the player can expect to get a C$95 over a long period of playing that game.

How RTP is calculated

calculatorTheoretically calculating RTP is simple the formula is really straightforward. It is the total amount returned to the players divided by the total amount that is played by gamblers. However, the RTP differs as the one on slots doesn’t indicate how often players can expect to win. Which makes them misleading.

Unlike slots, some table games like Blackjack are obvious as you know you will win half the bets you place. When it comes to slots they payout large jackpots so they can play out less often. The RTP differs with the game, some maybe 93 some maybe be 94 all the way to 99%.

RTP is difficult to calculate on some games that require strategy from a player. The strategy you have may drive the RTP high and bad strategy may drive it down as well.

Who Sets The Return To Player

Who sets the RTP is usually up to the software developer. The software company that is responsible for the game is the one that sets the RTP of that particular game. But with the growth of the online casinos from long back things have slightly changed now the RTP is set in partnership between the publishers, software providers and the casino too. That is why we always advise players to go for games from reputable and well-known software providers.

Also, games with high RTP are good for players as they will reward more in a long period of time. For those that need strategy players should have great strategies that will increase their RTP than to pull it down.
